Annekien Janssens has been working with ceramics since 2022 and quickly developed a distinctive sculptural practice. Her hand-built works are defined by rhythm, layering, and a refined attention to material and form.
Through a slow, intuitive process, Janssens constructs her sculptures layer by layer, allowing for the unexpected and creating a subtle tension between control and freedom. Her totems reflect the layered nature of life: individual elements that come together as a powerful whole.
By combining ceramics with natural materials such as travertine and wood, she creates a restrained, tactile aesthetic that gives her work a clear and recognizable signature.
