The Dutch-born sculptor, ceramist, painter, and printmaker Abraham Van Den Bogaert, known as Bram van den Boogaart and later simply Bram Bogart, was born on July 12, 1921, in Delft.

His powerful oeuvre combines the techniques of Action Painting and Art Informel. Through the use of impasto, the tactile qualities of the paint are brought to the fore, clearly emphasizing the material substance of his work. This technique also reveals the construction of the image, built up from independent layers of paint. The distinctive charm of Bogart's work lies in the tension between expressive color use and harmonious composition.
