Keith Haring United States, Reading, 1958° - 1990†

Keith Haring was an American artist who emerged in the 1980s as one of the most recognizable figures in contemporary art. He was part of New York's vibrant alternative art scene, where music, performance, and graffiti converged. He became known for his "subway drawings": chalk drawings made in the New York subway between 1980 and 1985 on empty advertising panels.
Haring aimed to take art out of its traditional context and make it accessible to a wider audience. His direct visual language consists of simple, almost cartoon-like figures, using bold colors and/or strong, dynamic lines.
Until his untimely death in 1990, he used art as a tool for social engagement, raising awareness about AIDS and addressing universal themes such as life, love, and solidarity.
