Luc Peire Bruges, Belgium, 1916° - 1994†

The visual artist Luc Peire evolved from Expressionism (following in the footsteps of Permeke), through a personal reduction and stylisation of the human figure, towards a representation of man as a spiritual being. This is symbolised by vertical movement and a balanced spatial composition.
Luc Peire thus became the master of abstract verticalism.
