William SweetloveOstend, 1949°
Fascinated by fossils, memory and the preservation of the ephemeral, he has built a distinctive body of work in which everyday materials, polyester and recycled plastic acquire new meaning. His iconic animal figures and sculptures address themes such as consumption, plastic pollution, climate change, and shortages of water and food. Through humour, irony and an occasionally absurd visual language, Sweetlove explores contemporary social issues with both lightness and a sharp critical edge.
