Barcode, also known as Barcode Leopard, showcases a bold and fearless leopard that seems to have just broken free from its restraints (now transformed into a barcode on wheels). At first glance, this striking print may be interpreted as a commentary on humanity's exploitation of animals for entertainment, embodied in the creation of zoos and sea parks. Banksy shines a light on the illegal wildlife trade, particularly the poaching of majestic big cats for their fur, and their captivity - whether for private pleasure or for public display in zoos.
