Art Story
"Rood van de liefde" (1983) is an acrylic work on paper, mounted on hardboard, modest in scale but rich in meaning. As often in Raveel's oeuvre, the piece appears to explore themes of everyday emotion and human connection, with the colour red potentially symbolising love, intensity, or vulnerability.
The composition leaves much to the viewer's imagination and conveys a physical, almost bodily tension. This stands in contrast to a coloured silkscreen print issued in 2006 under the same title (previously available via PAREIT.Gallery). That graphic version more explicitly depicts a man and woman embracing, whereas the 1983 painting evokes physicality and emotional tension in a more subtle, suggestive manner.
