Art Story
In this compact work, Roger Raveel brings together the everyday and the existential in a sober yet charged composition.
A human head, unrecognizable and only partially depicted - a recurring motif in his oeuvre -
appears either to be gazing at a dog or walking away from it. The dog, a frequent symbol in Raveel's work,
stands for closeness and loyalty. Fluid contours and a grid-like background allow figuration and abstraction
to merge in a striking way. The result is a silent confrontation between human, animal, and nature: formally simple,
yet rich in meaning that invites open interpretation by the viewer.
