In Superstition, Luc Tuymans plays with perception and suggestion. A face appears in the foreground, while a second, barely perceptible portrait seems to emerge in the background. This visual uncertainty refers to the theme of superstition: that which one believes to see or feel without being able to fully explain it. The work evokes an atmosphere of mystery, memory, and psychological tension.
