Bernar Venet, geboren in Frankrijk en sinds 1966 gevestigd in New York City, is een internationaal gerenommeerd beeldhouwer. Zijn monumentale staalsculpturen maken deel uit van talrijke museum- en privécollecties wereldwijd en zijn ook prominent aanwezig in de openbare ruimte. Tot zijn bekendste reeksen behoren de "Lignes indéterminées" in cortenstaal, die onder meer te vinden zijn in Keulen (1999), Parijs (2002), Nice, Luxemburg (2003) en New York City (2004). Een van zijn meest spectaculaire realisaties is "L'Arc Majeur" (2019), een monumentale sculptuur die de E411 overspant tussen de provincies Namen en Luxemburg in België en geldt als een van de grootste openbare stalen sculpturen van Europa.
