Art Story
Keith Haring's The Blueprint Drawings 10 is a unique multipart work that brings together various scenes and motifs reflecting the ambiguities and raw struggles of the 1980s AIDS crisis in New York City. Some motifs, upon closer inspection, are mirrored in an unconventional way - hinting at the antagonistic society that Haring subtly critiques throughout his entire career using symbolic and nuanced imagery.
As we follow the top of this drawing, three faceless human figures rush toward the center from the left, mirroring the trajectory of three dogs approaching from the right. Between them, another faceless figure climbs a staircase dotted with Haring's familiar marks, a haunting reminder of the ever-present AIDS virus.
The narrative deepens with radiant lines that accentuate certain figures, symbolizing energy, life and vitality. Yet these same lines encircle those marked by the dotted-disease, highlighting the fragile boundary between life force and vulnerability. Haring also introduces his iconic crawling baby - another symbol of life and vitality - into this chaotic interplay, contrasting the innocence of life caught amidst societal turmoil.

In the center, a striking hybrid figure emerges - part human, part dog. This centaur-like figure speaks to the complexity of the era, in which new identities, opportunities, and struggles emerge, but the boundaries between them are constantly shifting and sometimes blurring...
